Why it is highly recommended that you take photographs to fully document your personal injury claim
Photographs of your injuries at their various stages of progression (at the accident scene, at the hospital, after the hospital, and intermittently thereafter), including medical equipment you are required to wear or use (such as sutures, braces, casts, orthopedic walking boots, bandages, etc.) can be helpful in establishing the validity and extent of your claim, and provide documented and irrefutable proof of your injury and your subsequent pain and suffering.
Especially helpful are photographs of your damaged automobile or motorcycle because they will clearly show the type of damage and its extent to your vehicle as well as the violent forces your body was subjected to in the collision. Photographs of the accident scene and of the other party’s damaged car or truck (including its license plates), can also be quite valuable to your claim.
Give copies of your photographs to your attorneys at The Hassell Law Group. Your photos, which we will present as Exhibits to the Insurance Company, will help the insurance company’s adjusters and lawyers get a clearer understanding of the entire situation you have suffered and endured. As such, the photographs and a comprehensive presentation of all of the facts and circumstances surrounding your injuries, the treatments, and the recovery you’ve undergone, including possible future medical difficulties – all of your damages and losses – will be presented to the insurer to enable them to arrive at an equitable settlement award.
If litigation becomes necessary, those photographs will help a mediator better understand the value of your claim; and, if required beyond that, your photographs will be presented for viewing to a Judge and jury so that an accurate decision and amount of compensation can be rendered.
If your photographs are taken with and stored on a mobile phone, be sure to keep a backup copy of your accident related photos in case you lose or damage your phone. Apps like Google Photos or Apple Photos can be configured to automatically sync with your phone and store a copy of your photos off of the phone.
Lastly, and equally as important, we recommend that you show significant photographs that depict major vehicle damage and visible injuries to your medical providers so that they fully understand the ordeal you have been through and the forces you’ve been subjected to in the collision. Your photographs will enable them to more thoroughly assess, diagnose, and successfully treat your injuries.
